I’d like to thank my friend Phil, for sharing this video with me. I know everyone and their mom has seen it by now, but not me. I saw it for the first time yesterday. Thanks Phil.

Cash and I are home alone all weekend as Jillian works in Kansas City. We miss her.
Here is a semi-pointless video documenting this:

So. This may not seem to be an appropriate topic to chat about on here, but it’s a real issue and I feel the need to.
Everyone at some point or another encounters pornography. Whether it be intentional or not. The porn industry’s yearly revenue is that of pro baseball, basketball and football combined. The average American sees porn by age 11.
As men (and women), we need to be aware of the physical, emotional and spiritual effects it has on us.
I’d encourage all my brothers and sisters to listen to this sermon. It’s about an hour long. It’s from Mark Driscoll who is doing the Real Marriage tour right now. It has a testimony from a woman who used to be in the industry as well and what she has to say about it, spliced into the whole clip.
So download it and check it out HERE. It’s free.
And remember that repentance is greater than porn.

Jillian and I are big believers in Jesus and how He’s moving in the life of our church, August Gate. This Sunday (tomorrow), is just one evidence of His work.
Since the planting of AG in August 2009, the church has grown from 12 to about 150-200 in attendance on any given Sunday. We moved into our new (old) building in November of 2011 and since then, our space has hit capacity. Tomorrow we will be moving to two services (9AM and 11AM) to accommodate for more folks to hear the Gospel.
Along with God moving in St. Louis, He has stirred in the hearts of believers in the metro-east as well. Tomorrow marks the beginning of our weekly launch-team meetings to begin vision casting and planning for our new Illinois gathering in 2012.
I want to ask that you all be praying for our church and that we would be able to reach the lost in St. Louis and Illinois. After all, that’s the reason the church exists (to spread the Gospel to our neighbors everywhere.)
If you live in the metro-east, and would like to check it out and hear the vision for the church, here’s the deets:
Sunday nights @ 5PM
at the Metro East Baptist Association building
(4950 Old Collinsville Road, Swansea, IL)
Or if you have any questions, feel free to hit me up:
618-767-6793
Or if you want to join us for morning worship in St. Louis at one of our new service times, here you go:
9AM & 11AM @ AUGUST GATE
(2601 Minnesota Avenue St. Louis, MO)
Thanks for praying and I love y’all.

Hey friends!
I want to be really prepared for the next several months. I’d like to right now start compiling cities and contacts to be planning tours down the road.
I need your help!
I’ve already added several dates to my schedule and I want to hit your city as well.
If you’re a promoter, fill out this booking request.
If you’re not a promoter, but know information about the music scene in your town, email me (owen@owenpye.com)
If you know nothing about the scene but still want me to play, leave a comment on this post with your city or the closest major city.
Sound cool? Ok….go!
Love y’all,
OP

Can I just ask, where has 2012 gone?
It’s already mid-February and I am still making my New Year’s resolutions.
My biggest weakness as a human being, is time management. Using the few extra minutes that God gives me to write a song, or do a blog post, or read my bible. Instead I am one of those folks that just totally zones out. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with a little zoning. But the amount I zone has brought me to an over-zone zone.
I’d like to give a shootout to my friends, SONS, who came out with a new album on Tuesday. It’s rad. They’re rad. Check em out.
I’m in the middle of wrapping up the writing process of this album that I’m working on. I hope to have all the rough drafts done in the next 2 weeks and start in the studio shortly after.
There’s a number of cool shows coming down the chute. I need to cross some t’s and dot some i’s, but I can at least tell you about AgapeFest (Greenville, IL) and JoshuaFest (Plymouth, CA.) Both the festivals have some awesome bands playing and are worth the ticket prices. FOR REAL.
If you would like me to come play a show in your town, please let me know. I’m going to start tentatively planning out the next 6-12 months and would love to have all my friends on the map. If you’re a venue/college/church/camp director, etc. or you know someone who is. Tell em about OP and send em over to the contact page (www.owenpye.com/contact) – Willing to work with any and all budgets to make stuff happen. Even if you’re just wanting to throw a small house show, let me know.
In closing, I’d love to share a Jack Handy quote with all of you…
“When you die, if you have a choice between heaven or pie heaven, choose pie heaven. It may be a trick, but if not, mmm….boy.”
Until next time,
- OP
