Sorry for the Lack of Updates

So. Let’s just go ahead and recognize the elephant in the room. I’m terrible at updating this thing.

Between driving to shows, playing shows, loading/un-loading, it gets a little overwhelming.

It’s not because I have nothing to talk about.

If you’ll notice, my wife updates her site frequently:

Here’s what I’ve been up to:
On Friday I got home from Columbia, Missouri at about 3:30 AM and woke up at 7:30 AM to prepare for AgapeFest.

As some of you might know, I don’t really have a consistent full-band since The Sunday School Band is so spread out nowadays. So AgapeFest’s line-up consisted of me, Joel Sprenger, Mat Kuhlig, Shane Zimmer and Nick Vombrack. Here’s a snap from Taco Bell of 4/5 of the group (Mat wasn’t able to do TB with us.)

We played Friday night at the BOTB and ended up winning 1st place (giving us a slot at mainstage Saturday morning.)

There was a special surprise mixed into the set. I some times cover Bleach’s “Knocked Out” at the end of “Just a Spark.” Just the tag that reads:
And I will sing at the top of my lungs
I will dance even if I’m the only one
And I hope that I will never be apart
I will sing and I hope it heals my heart.

I asked Davy if he would sing the tag with us on mainstage. He agreed and it was a great way to end the set. Watch this video that Bleach put up on their website the other day:

We have been doing some cool shows, and staying busy on the road. Today we are heading to NYC. Jillian has never been, and I’m excited for what today will bring.

In other news… The other day we were having some major car issues with a flat tire, a bent wheel, lack of tires being stocked in the cities we were in. I had put up an update about how we were finding ourselves with a lot of unexpected bills. There were  a lot of rad folks who sacrificed some of their own bucks and sent some financial help our way. We were so humbled by this and thankful.

I say this almost all the time, but it’s still true. I love you all very much. It means the world to me to have you care about me and my family.

Here’s some random photos from the last few weeks that I’ve snatched from other people’s facebooks/twitter feeds. Boom!:

About owenpye

Owen Pye began playing in 2005, with just a guitar and a plan: To share music with willing listeners. As cliche as that may seem, it’s exactly what he’s doing. Pye was getting a lot of exposure on myspace, with his boastful 20,000 fans and thorough independently booked tour schedule in his early years supporting his debut album “If That’s Cool With You.” To date, Owen Pye has shared the stage with some of the best up and coming artists including Deas Vail (Mono VS. Stereo) Dr. Manhattan (Vagrant) and New London Fire (Eyeball.) He has independently booked over 250 shows in the United States. In 2008 he teamed up with some friends to form a consistent full-band line-up known as “Owen Pye & The Sunday School Band.” With the help of producer and engineer Andrew Osenga (Caedmon’s Call, The Normals) they released their self-titled record to the masses in late 2009. During the summer of 2010, Pye began his solo project with Blackroom Records. When asked about the upcoming project, Owen Pye responded, “This is very, very exciting and I am SO pumped to work with these folks for the next year in support of the record.” To learn more about Owen Pye, pickup a CD, download an MP3 or come out to a show near you.
